Large sensor DSLR cameras have chips that can shoot video at frame sizes very similar to 35mm film. This means very sharp and crisp images that hold much more detail. The use of DSLR gives a cinematic quality to the video.A larger sensor also results in much more control over depth of field. Video production companies use DoF to make a specific subject or object to stand out. The camera is also extremely efficient at low light, which again is a result of the larger sensor.

It is really easy to change lenses to suit different conditions when filming. You really don’t get the same amount of choice between lenses for dedicated broadcast video cameras.Another advantage of the DSLR is their size and portability. They are naturally lighter to carry around. On the other hand you need a few accessories in order to have a stable shot. It is best to use a tripod or a shoulder rig.
